NSIL stands for NewSpace India limited

It is ISRO’s new commercial arm with an Office in Bengaluru

It was established on March 6, 2019, under the Department of Space.

It is formed to link ISRO and the industry and help transfer its technologies to Private firms for a pre-determined fee. Companies who wish to launch satellites for their firm or any project with the help of ISRO can contact ISRO through NSIL and place demand for launch or space-related equipment and tools. NSIL will look after demand as well as supply of such equipment and satellites.

It is working as an aggregator for all space-related activities in the industry. It is also going to develop private entrepreneurship in space-related technologies. It will be responsible for the production and manufacturing of commercially successful small satellite launch vehicles (SSLV) and polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) spacecraft launchers via technology transfer mechanisms.

How it is different from Antrix??

Antrix Corporation Limited is the first commercial arm of ISRO. It commercially deals with foreign companies whereas NSIL deals with local and Indian private companies/customers.

NSIL is formed to equip the Indian Private sector with modern technology.
