The Himalayas emerged due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian plate when the Indian plate was moving in the northern hemisphere from the Southern hemisphere around 50 million years in the Tertiary period. They are Young fold mountains and they are still rising

The highest peak of the Himalayas is Mount Everest – 8849m situated between Nepal and Tibet

The Himalayas are divided into 3 parts- Greater Himalayas(Himadri), Middle Himalayas(Himanchal), and Outer Himalayas(Shiwalik) as they were formed in different phases and time duration.

The Himalayas have a stretch of 2500 km and passes through 13 states and Union territories of India which includes Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam, West Bengal,
